May Gen Z miss the opportunity to "mine gold"?
In the ever-evolving landscape of technology, the semiconductor industry is now considered one of the hottest fields. It is likened to a gold mine waiting to be exploited. Why is there such a perception?
With the boom of electronic devices like smartphones, computers, electric cars, IoT (Internet of Things) devices, artificial intelligence (AI)... semiconductor microchips play an indispensable role.
The semiconductor industry, a "gold mine" that really needs Gen Z to exploit
The recent semiconductor chip shortage crisis has crippled production lines in some countries. In this context, the semiconductor chip industry in Southeast Asia has emerged as a solution and Vietnam is expected to become a focal point in the global semiconductor industry value chain. Semiconductors have been defined by the Government as one of the nine national products. Therefore, the demand for high-quality human resources is huge in the semiconductor chip industry.
Gen Z, with its dynamism, creativity and abilities to absorb quickly, is considered the most suitable generation to participate in the semiconductor industry. This sector not only brings attractive income but also promises great career advancement opportunities. Semiconductor engineers can work in many different areas such as design, manufacturing, quality control, and research and development. In addition, it is completely possible for them to work and learn from leading experts due to the strong investment from the world's biggest tech corporations.
These reasons are enough to convince the Gen Z generation those born and raised with the rapid development of technology to invest in this industry.
Gen Z jointly "exploits gold" with LHU
LHU is proud to be one of the universities with thorough investment and special attention from local leaders in the semiconductor industry training in Vietnam.
LHU trains local human resources, students do not worry about output
Previously, Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh, Secretary of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee, said "At the end of 2023, Coherent Corp. (USA) worked with the Provincial Party Committee's leaders, proposing to implement high tech-related projects in the fields of optics and semiconductors. Accordingly, it requested the provincial leaders to pay attention to the possibility of meeting electronics and semiconductor labor resources for high-tech projects invested in Dong Nai."

Immediately after that, the provincial leaders directed LHU to coordinate with Sun Edu International Education Joint Stock Company - a leading prestigious international training organization in the electronics and semiconductor IC fields to jointly establish a Semiconductor IC Center with equipment costs of up to 2.2 billion VND. The Center will directly train this scarce human resources for the locality, to promptly meet this sector's expected engineer team in Vietnam of 5,000 - 10,000 engineers/year.

Learning from business practice
Apart from ensuring facilities and a strong team of advisory experts in training, LHU attaches great importance to fostering and developing a team of highly qualified lecturers trained from advanced countries in the semiconductor industry. The lecturers act as a bridge of training cooperation with universities such as National Chin-Yi University of Technology or Minghsin University of Science and Technology as leading schools in microchip technology in Taiwan to bring students to study and practice in the final years.

Additionally, to provide an internship experience environment, LHU has signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with On Semiconductor Vietnam Company Limited, a subsidiary of On Semiconductor Corp (USA) specializing in manufacturing hybrid integrated circuits, discrete semiconductor components for automobiles, electrical home appliances and pneumatic industrial applications. LHU also regularly organizes seminars and workshops with the participation of leading industry experts, helping students update the industry's latest trends. Cooperation programs between the University and businesses also create conditions for students to gain internships and practical experience while still in school.
