In 2024, the Vietnam Women’s Union organized the Women’s Entrepreneurship Competition for the sixth time under the theme “Women’s Innovative Entrepreneurship and Green Transformation” (the Competition). This is one of the key activities under the Project “Supporting Women’s Entrepreneurship for the Period 2017–2025,” approved by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 939/QD-TTg dated 30 June 2017 (Project 939).
At the provincial and municipal reception and screening rounds, along with participating agencies and units, 2,545 startup projects were submitted to the Competition (an increase of 26% compared to the 2023 Competition). After the preliminary round and training sessions, the startup projects completed detailed project proposals to participate in the Regional Semi-Final Round. Subsequently, 80 outstanding startup projects out of nearly 300 exemplary projects submitted by the Women’s Unions of 63 provinces and cities, along with participating agencies and units, to the Central-level preliminary round were selected to compete in the Regional Final Round, organized in representative provinces of the three regions: North, Central, and South.
On the morning of 20 September 2024, in Vinh Long Province, the Vietnam Women’s Union organized the Award Ceremony for the 2024 Southern Regional Round of the “Women’s Innovative Entrepreneurship and Green Transformation” Competition. Among the 17 outstanding startup projects honored, Dong Nai Province had the project “Enhancing Production Capacity and Promoting the Commercialization of Certain Natural Health Products” by contestant Nguyen Thi Yen, owner of Yen Loc Rung Household Business (Thanh Son Commune, Dinh Quan District), which won First Prize at the Southern Regional Round. Notably, Lac Hong University had PhD Nguyen Van Tan – Head of The Faculty of Administration International Economics (FAIE) – serving as the project advisor.
The project was developed by leveraging the advantages of local resources in Thanh Son Commune, with its large forest land area and favorable climate and soil conditions for cultivating agricultural crops and valuable medicinal plants. Yen Loc Rung Household Business has focused on producing and trading natural health-beneficial products, with its flagship products being Five-Element Bean Powder and Grass Jelly Powder, both certified as OCOP 3-star products. Currently, these products are widely distributed in the market and well received by customers. Through such activities, the Competition provides additional resources and confidence for women to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams and take charge of their own lives.
