The Tourism and Travel Management program at Lac Hong University consistently emphasizes practice-oriented training, integrating professional knowledge with real-world experience. One of the highlights of the program is three extended field trips, implemented throughout three academic years. These are not merely academic activities but immersive professional journeys that enable students to gain a deeper understanding of their chosen field.

From the first year, students participate in their first trip to provinces in the Mekong Delta and the Southeast region. The objective of this trip is to provide students with an overall perspective of the profession, expose them to practical tourism operations in various localities, and create opportunities for bonding with classmates, lecturers, and the new academic environment. The selected destinations are often places rich in cultural identity, distinctive natural landscapes, and community-based tourism activities, helping students better appreciate the role of tourism in local development.

In the second year, the field study program is organized with more specialized content. Students visit well-known destinations such as Da Lat, along with beautiful coastal areas in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan. Here, students directly explore distinctive tourism products, service provision models such as accommodation, cuisine, and transportation, as well as tour organization and operation processes. The trip helps students begin to develop analytical thinking, evaluate product and service quality, and gain practical exposure to tourism business operations at enterprises.

By the third year, students take part in a cross-Vietnam trip, passing through typical destinations such as Nha Trang, Hoi An, Da Nang, and Hue. This trip is highly academic in nature, where students are assigned to directly develop tour programs, design itineraries, manage actual tour operations, and assume the role of professional tour guides. Under the guidance of lecturers and in coordination with travel agencies, students apply all the knowledge and skills they have acquired to handle arising situations, interact with customers, and refine their organizational skills.

These three field study trips not only help students consolidate knowledge and expand professional skills but also provide opportunities for experience, self-discovery, and the development of professional working mindsets. This is also one of the distinctive highlights of the Tourism and Travel Management program at Lac Hong University, contributing to students’ confidence as they enter the real working environment after graduation.
