[FAIE: Tourism and Travel Management] Studying Tourism and Travel Management at LHU: Not Just Theory but Meaningful Practical Journeys

Are you unsure about choosing a major? Are you passionate about travel and eager to explore new experiences? If so, the Tourism and Travel Management program at Lac Hong University (LHU) is the right choice for you! At LHU, you are not only equipped with in-depth knowledge but also have the opportunity to directly organize and experience real-world travel tours.

A clear example is the recent event “Preserve Small Lives – Preserve a Million Shades of Green.” Students of the Tourism and Travel Management program, Faculty of Business Administration - International Economics, LHU, had a memorable experiential trip to Lo Go – Xa Mat National Park (Tay Ninh) on 14 June 2025.

Field Trip: Learning and Exploration Without Limits

This program, organized by Vietravel Dong Nai – Binh Duong – Tay Ninh, provided LHU students with invaluable practical lessons:

Raising awareness of conservation: The program focused on fostering awareness of environmental protection, ecosystems, and biodiversity. Students gained deeper understanding of the importance of preserving “the fragile lives of wildlife species,” as shared by Mr. Pham Phu Thy, Director of Vietravel Tay Ninh.

Spreading community values: Vietravel stated that it would continue expanding this journey, as “each trip is an opportunity to preserve life,” and LHU students contributed a small part to that meaningful journey.

Lo Go – Xa Mat National Park: A Living Natural “Classroom”

Lo Go – Xa Mat National Park, recognized as an ASEAN Heritage Park (2019), with an area of nearly 30,000 hectares and a rich ecosystem, serves as a vast “classroom” for Tourism students. The park features:

Remarkable biodiversity: Nearly 700 plant species (including precious timber and medicinal plants) and hundreds of animal species, including rare species listed in the Red Book such as the black-shanked douc langur and the sarus crane.

Ecotourism potential: Visitors can trek through forests, climb observation towers, camp overnight, paddle along the Vam Co Dong River, and visit historical resistance sites.

Highlighted Activities: Turning Theory into Experience

This trip went beyond classroom lectures and provided students with hands-on experience in ecotourism activities:

Visiting the wildlife rescue center: Students learned about rescued animals such as langurs, monkeys, pheasants, and otters, and gained knowledge about conservation and rehabilitation processes.

Exchange and team activities: Students participated in community games and ecological challenges, reinforcing knowledge about the National Park while developing teamwork and event organization skills.

Authentic nature experiences: Climbing a 33-meter observation tower for panoramic views, embracing a more than 200-year-old Ven Ven tree, and listening to interpretation at Da Ha Stream helped students deeply appreciate the beauty of nature and the importance of conservation.

Creativity with nature: A competition to collect forest leaves and create environmental-themed artwork encouraged creativity and conveyed meaningful environmental messages.

    What Do LHU Students Say?

“Honestly, it was not just an extracurricular activity but a real-life lesson, an experience that truly ‘touched’ nature in a way no textbook could teach,” shared Vy Vy (student 22QD111).

Minh Thuan (student 24QD111) also expressed: “I sincerely thank the Organizing Committee for creating such a meaningful program. ‘Preserve Small Lives – Preserve a Million Shades of Green’ not only gave me a day of experience but also planted in me a seed of love and responsibility.”

The program “Preserve Small Lives – Preserve a Million Shades of Green” at Lo Go – Xa Mat National Park provided vivid and emotional real-world experiences for students and lecturers of Lac Hong University. This clearly demonstrates that studying Tourism and Travel Management at LHU goes beyond theory to include practical trips and valuable lessons from nature itself, equipping students with comprehensive knowledge and skills to become dynamic and responsible tourism professionals.
