[FAIE: Economic Law] Economic Law at LHU: A First-Year Student’s Journey of Discovery and Growth

Hello everyone! My name is Luong Nguyen Thuy An, and I am currently a student majoring in Economic Law at Lac Hong University. I know that when mentioning the Law program, many of you may imagine thick books, dry legal provisions, or solemn courtroom proceedings. I used to think the same. However, after spending time studying Economic Law at Lac Hong, I have gained a completely different and much deeper perspective.

A Journey Toward My Legal Dream: The Values I Have Gained from the Economic Law Program at LHU

Studying Economic Law at LHU has not simply been about acquiring knowledge; it has been a meaningful journey where I have been equipped with solid foundations to confidently step into the legal world.

Developing Thinking and Enhancing Personal Competence

Each class at LHU has opened up new horizons of understanding for me. Not only have I been equipped with in-depth knowledge of law, commerce, and business, but I have also clearly felt the development of my own thinking. Through subjects such as Administrative Law and Administrative Procedure Law, Civil Law, my critical thinking has been strengthened, enabling me to examine issues from multiple perspectives and present well-grounded arguments.

In addition, my analytical skills have significantly improved through the subject Legal Research Methodology, which has helped me approach complex legal issues systematically. More importantly, my communication and negotiation skills have been continuously cultivated in courses such as Law on Business Entities and Economics. These skills are not confined to textbooks but have become essential assets that give me the confidence to work in various fields: from corporate legal consultancy, practicing as a lawyer, serving as an in-house legal specialist in companies and corporations, to working in state agencies. Being comprehensively equipped with knowledge and skills has truly made me more confident when facing career opportunities.

Connecting Theory with Practice, Shaping Career Orientation

The Economic Law program at LHU has helped me realize an important truth: legal knowledge is not merely theoretical; it exists in every contract, every project, every transaction, and even in real-life disputes. It is not just information in books but a vast landscape waiting to be explored.

I have had opportunities to engage with real-life situations through meaningful internships and discussion sessions with lawyers and experts. Visiting court hearings, witnessing how justice is applied, and participating in meaningful programs such as “Student Market – Marketplace” organized by the Faculty have provided unforgettable experiences. These activities have not only enhanced my professional abilities and problem-solving skills but have also helped me build valuable social connections. At those moments, I no longer felt like a hesitant student but began to clearly envision my future role as a legal professional.

A Deeper Understanding of the Role of Law in the Economy

The Economic Law program has given me profound insights into the role of law in economic activities. I have realized that law is not merely a tool to regulate behavior but also the foundation for creating a stable, transparent, and fair business environment.

Every lesson on contracts, enterprises, investment, competition, and dispute resolution has become highly practical and closely connected to everyday economic life. The more I study, the more I understand the importance of a strong legal system for the sustainable development of enterprises and the national economy.

Beyond Knowledge: Professional Thinking and Ethics

Pursuing this field has helped me understand that legal professionals must not only master expertise but also possess logical thinking, professional ethics, and flexible analytical and problem-solving abilities. These are the qualities that LHU has continuously nurtured in me, helping me realize that becoming a legal professional requires a combination of knowledge and a strong sense of responsibility.

I believe that with what I have learned at LHU, I am ready to continue developing myself in the promising field of law.
