PhD Nguyen Van Tan Shares Entrepreneurship Insights with Women in Tan Uyen, Binh Duong.

The year 2022 marks the fifth year of implementing the Project on Supporting Women’s Entrepreneurship for the 2018–2025 period. At the same time, Tan Uyen Town is completing procedures to become a city under Binh Duong Province. Local agencies and commune–ward authorities are also implementing public mobilization initiatives associated with building a cultured and civilized urban lifestyle. Therefore, the role of women in economic development, particularly in entrepreneurship and startup support, is increasingly important to improve living standards and income, helping women develop economically and escape poverty.

After five years of implementation, many women have gained access to and understood entrepreneurship-related knowledge. Currently, some women in various communes and wards have launched startup models such as garment outsourcing, oyster mushroom farming in Tan Hiep, safe vegetable cultivation in Phu Chanh, handicraft weaving workshops, and more. However, the number of women who have successfully launched and sustained startups remains limited.

For this reason, the Executive Committee of the Tan Uyen Town Women’s Union organized a thematic conference on “Women’s Entrepreneurship” in 2022. At the conference, Lac Hong University was honored to have PhD Nguyen Van Tan – Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration – International Economics (FAIE) – as a guest speaker. He shared insights on the role of women in economic development and introduced effective startup models that women can apply in practice.

At the beginning of his presentation, PhD Nguyen Van Tan emphasized the vital role of women in economic growth. He then guided participants through the step-by-step process of starting a business: from generating ideas, identifying target customers, selecting an appropriate business model, raising capital, to registering intellectual property rights.

Beyond theoretical sharing, he also engaged participants in an interactive “community mapping” activity. This exercise helped women identify the unique characteristics and local strengths of their communities in order to develop products aligned with local market demand.

Through this session, participants gained valuable and practical knowledge, especially those who are considering launching their own businesses. Furthermore, the information shared at the conference will be disseminated by commune and ward Women’s Union officers to members, helping more women strengthen their economic capacity, improve livelihoods, and contribute to the socio-economic development of Tan Uyen.
